2012-11-09	Datr	Isn't it possible to have a condition. If unregistered puzzle ELO is unchanged, if registered puzzle ELO is changed? I don't know how difficult this would be to implement but it would give more meaning to the ELO Range in Practice.
2012-11-09	Zuril	Puzzle's ELO in practice mode can't variate because the practice mode is the same used by unregistered users and for them I don't know the ELO.

In Practice the players ELO isn't affected, that is the idea, however, the puzzle ELO is also appears to be unaffected, technically I would say this is a fault, the puzzles ELO ideally should be variable in Practice. Why aren't puzzle ELO variable in Practice?

2012-11-09	Datr	I don't want to start the Glicko Rating System debated again. The current system is working fine, however, just one word of wording. If you are the first player to come across a new puzzle, it's statistics will be ELO=1500 and RD =350. If it is a high rated puzzle the chances are you will get it wrong and loses a lot more points than you would normally. If it is a low rated puzzle the chances are you will get it correct and gain slightly more points than you would normally, so being the first player to attempt a puzzle isn't good for your rating.

2012-11-08	Zuril	Yes, Datr is right. It's too resource expensive for the server to remember all attempted puzzles for all users. For the number of checkmates I need to check but checkmates problems available are much more than tactics problems. Strange that they repeating more often than tactics one.
2012-11-07	Datr	I think the answer is no, it doesn't remember which ones you have done, I have had repeat puzzles followed by new ones. I don't think this is a bad thing because it doesn't happen too often. I suspected there are limited numbers of puzzles in the Checkmate categories because they repeat more often than in ELO tactics. Zuril is the only one who knows how any are in each.
2012-11-07	Abrowne	Just two questions, when doing the checkmate exercises does it remember previous ones you've done so that you don't get the same puzzle twice? Second, could you tell me how many puzzles you have for mates in 1, 2, 3 and 4 (not the total, the amount in each category?) Thanks.

2012-11-05	Datr	RD stands for Rating Deviation, it is like a standard deviation in statistics. The RD quantifies the uncertainty of your ELO rating in terms of probability. Each players starts with an RD =350 but this drops quickly when you start attempting puzzles. The minimum RD =30. The RD only increases if you stop solving puzzles, it will fall again as soon as you start solving puzzles again. For more info look at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glicko_rating_system

2012-11-04	Zuril	The "Next tactics" button has the access key "n" so is possible to go to the next problem without using the mouse but pressing the right keyboard combination that vary in function of the browser used: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_key
2012-11-04	Zuril	It's not possible for technical reasons to put the Next button in the applet. I know that that zoom level doesn't affect the applet but this is also a feature of all the applets.
2012-11-04	Datr	The Solution Button appears to be in the same frame as the board and isn't affected by Zoom. The Next tactics button appear appears to be in a different frame and is affected by zoom. Is it possible to put the Next Tactics button in the same frame as the board? This might solve the problem.
2012-11-04	N4pll	To Datr and Zuril: The zoom greater than 100 percent does not work. If under 100 percent the a or h file is almost erased. To Zuril: On playing against a computer you need "underpromotion". You have only a queen to promote. You should also choose for a rook, knight, and bishop as well.
2012-11-03	Datr	Zuril: About "Next Tactic" button. If players need Zoom set to a high percentage then Npll has a good point, moving the button closer to the board, so that it is visible at Zoom 125%, could help some players.
2012-11-03	Datr	N4pll: About "Next Tactic" button. If Zoom on my laptop is set to 100% or 110% the "Next Tactic" button is visible on the screen, if Zoom is set to 125% it is off the screen. Is this what you are experiencing? Adjusting Zoom may solve your problem.

2012-10-26	N4pll	Zuril could you please put the "Next Tactics" button closer to the chessboard as (a1 if white OR h8 if black). This is very easy to do like the bigger font for the en passant.
