| 2012-11-13 | Zuril | Abrowne: No. I think anyway is useful to repass some problems. | |
| 2012-11-13 | Abrowne |
Yes, he answered my question about problems being remembered below. Do you have a PGN of all these games that I can use? If not, if you can give me a list of the numbers where mates 1-4 are located, I could use a script to visit those numbers directly. I just want to make it so that I don't revisit the same problem twice. (should be easy to make the list, just export it as an SQL file after doing the right query). Impressive numbers. |

I see that there are 63.3 percent of the total are mate problems. I thought you said 40 percent of the total were mate problems previously. I did see once a mate in 7. |
|
| 2012-11-12 | Emuheahgnus | Thanks for the quick answer! Will the Mate in 5 and Mate in 6 problems ever be available in the Checkmate section? It would be awesome to have those problems in the checkmate section also, if possible and not troublesome. Keep up the excellent work, Zuril... this is a phenomenal site. | |
| 2012-11-12 | Zuril |
1) Mate in 5 and 6 moves are assigned only in Tactics ELO 2) No |
|

1) Where do you find the Mate in 5 and Mate in 6 problems? When I click on "Checkmate", it only allows me to choose up to mate-in-4. 2) Does the computer/website keep track of which problems you have done? |

Mate in 1: 11190 Mate in 2: 12446 Mate in 3: 10711 Mate in 4: 7495 Mate in 5: 4378 Mate in 6: 3568 ... Total: 49854 |
|
| 2012-11-11 | Abrowne | Well obviously the total is the sum of the amounts (slaps face) ! :) | |
| 2012-11-11 | Abrowne | Hi, could you answer my question (how many problems in each category)? Can I also get the total? Thanks. | |
| 2012-11-10 | Zuril | Now I'm working on the software that find interesting tactical positions analyzing games. | |
| 2012-11-10 | Datr | Having the Edit puzzle facility in Tactics ELO would be an improvement. If I make a mistake I have to go to Home View to edit it. It would be nice to edit it directly in Tactics ELO. | |
| 2012-11-10 | Datr | Yes. I suppose it is down to time and complexity. What are your current priorities? | |
| 2012-11-09 | Zuril | Yes can be done but I think that improvements in other areas of ideachess are more useful | |
| 2012-11-09 | Datr | Isn't it possible to have a condition. If unregistered puzzle ELO is unchanged, if registered puzzle ELO is changed? I don't know how difficult this would be to implement but it would give more meaning to the ELO Range in Practice. | |
| 2012-11-09 | Zuril | Puzzle's ELO in practice mode can't variate because the practice mode is the same used by unregistered users and for them I don't know the ELO. | |
| 2012-11-09 | Datr | All player and puzzle ELO are estimates and variable in Tactics ELO. In Practice the players ELO isn't affected, that is the idea, however, the puzzle ELO is also appears to be unaffected, technically I would say this is a fault, the puzzles ELO ideally should be variable in Practice. Why aren't puzzle ELO variable in Practice? | |

There are ten tactical problems that are 512 ELO or lower. Please not that some of problems have approximate ELO's. They are: 343, 445, 449, 450, 460, 470, 477, 500, 510, 512 |

There are 48 problems in tactics that are 2000 ELO or higher. Use Practics problems menu: Here are the highest 23 rated problems from 2025 to 2200. The remaining 25 rated problems are between 2000 and 2024. 2199, 2183, 2169, 2167, 2148, 2077, 2068, 2066, 2063, 2062, 2061, 2048, 2047, 2046, 2044, 2042, 2037, 2036, 2031, 2030, 2030, 2029, 2025 |

| 2012-11-09 | Datr | I don't want to start the Glicko Rating System debated again. The current system is working fine, however, just one word of wording. If you are the first player to come across a new puzzle, it's statistics will be ELO=1500 and RD =350. If it is a high rated puzzle the chances are you will get it wrong and loses a lot more points than you would normally. If it is a low rated puzzle the chances are you will get it correct and gain slightly more points than you would normally, so being the first player to attempt a puzzle isn't good for your rating. | |

Zuril: The highest problem tactics number is 78711. Thanks for adding 1000 tactics problems. Please look at my suggestions that I posted on "The Wall" or the "Forum". You need preferences like CTS and CT already have. I will call you "IC" as in Ideachess. |
|
| 2012-11-08 | Datr | Zuril: I meant Tactics ELO not Tactics in Practice. | |
| 2012-11-08 | Zuril |
Yes, Datr is right. It's too resource expensive for the server to remember all attempted puzzles for all users. For the number of checkmates I need to check but checkmates problems available are much more than tactics problems. Strange that they repeating more often than tactics one. |
|
| 2012-11-07 | Datr | I think the answer is no, it doesn't remember which ones you have done, I have had repeat puzzles followed by new ones. I don't think this is a bad thing because it doesn't happen too often. I suspected there are limited numbers of puzzles in the Checkmate categories because they repeat more often than in ELO tactics. Zuril is the only one who knows how any are in each. | |
| 2012-11-07 | Abrowne |
Just two questions, when doing the checkmate exercises does it remember previous ones you've done so that you don't get the same puzzle twice? Second, could you tell me how many puzzles you have for mates in 1, 2, 3 and 4 (not the total, the amount in each category?) Thanks. |
|
| 2012-11-06 | Zuril | today I've added over 1,000 new tactics problems | |
| 2012-11-05 | Datr | RD stands for Rating Deviation, it is like a standard deviation in statistics. The RD quantifies the uncertainty of your ELO rating in terms of probability. Each players starts with an RD =350 but this drops quickly when you start attempting puzzles. The minimum RD =30. The RD only increases if you stop solving puzzles, it will fall again as soon as you start solving puzzles again. For more info look at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glicko_rating_system | |
| 2012-11-05 | Zuril | Give a look at FAQ here http://forum.ideachess.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=133 | |

Hello friends. wanted to know what the abbreviation means RD tactic in statistics. thank you very much. |
|
| 2012-11-04 | Zuril | The "Next tactics" button has the access key "n" so is possible to go to the next problem without using the mouse but pressing the right keyboard combination that vary in function of the browser used: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_key | |
| 2012-11-04 | Zuril | It's not possible for technical reasons to put the Next button in the applet. I know that that zoom level doesn't affect the applet but this is also a feature of all the applets. | |
