2012-12-24	Datr	Zuril: Yes, I had noticed the changes. Is "Language" intentionally justified on the right? Also, on my machine User Stats Rates doesn't do anything, once I have made these selections the software seems to hang and I have to exit and reload ideachess. Are others experiencing the same thing?

2012-12-17	Datr	Personally, I think only active players with an RD less than 100 should have the right to make comments and I would ask Gary to start doing puzzles, just like the rest of us, and be more considerate when writing comments.

2012-12-17	Datr	I have to agree with johangnorman Gary's comments "discourages comments and it makes for an unpleasant experience" they are also now driving players away from the site. Numerous plays have asked him to be more polite but this has had no affect. Added to this he has been inactive for a very long time, he never attempts any puzzles just uses the site to make comments, that usually offend. Personally, I think only players with an RD
2012-12-17	Johangnorman	There are some good tactics on this site but every time I have made a simple comment about a particular puzzle, I get the same guy giving me a "chess lecture". Nobody wants to be lectured by the same guy over and over again. It discourages comments and it makes for an unpleasant experience. I hope the site administrator can understand that. The administrator might want to look at the chesstempo.com or chessity.com models where of course every one has the right to make their comments, however, it is not a situation where the same guy is dominating and harrassing the other visitors. Meanwhile, due to my recent unpleasant experience here, I'll continue to do tactics over at other sites. Thank you.

2012-12-16	Johangnorman	I was looking at a problem at work yesterday and I got very busy and had to close my browser before I had a chance to solve the problem. Today I noticed that the same problem is again presented to me and I haven't lost any rating points. WELL DONE!
2012-12-11	Datr	Zuril: Yes they indicate the move but I was wondering why some times there is one noise and sometimes two. It isn't a problem I just wondered why.
2012-12-11	Zuril	Datr: the only sound would be the noise of the opponent's piece which is placed on the board. Next time I'll turn on the speakers on my pc, usually they are off.
2012-12-10	Datr	Zuril\|: After making a move there is a click noise, sometimes there are two in quick succession. Does this mean anything?
2012-12-09	Datr	Good, I never liked the penalty idea. I will let you know if anything unusual happens. Any idea why it skips puzzles without clicking on Next Tactic. It happens intermittently but seems to occur when the cursor is on or near the button. But no click is required.
2012-12-09	Zuril	I've checked the software without finding the bug. Since the app and the web work asynchronously I think the problem happen when the user request the next problem and for some reason the applet haven't already removed the last problem solved from the list of assigned problems. Since now in tactics problems the internal engine isn't used and you get immediately the result of your move and is more difficult to cheat, I've removed the -5 elo points of penality!

2012-12-04	Datr	RD stands for Rating Deviation. It is the "standard deviation" associated with your ELO rating.

2012-12-01	Datr	Zuril: Some simple recommendations for the menu options. The layouts are inconsistent. 1. Change HOME to Home 2. TheWall to The Wall 3. Tactics ELO to ELO Puzzles or Puzzles ELO 4. Language should be Centre Justified like the rest. Also since ideachess is no longer just about tactics the title "Chess tactics training" should be changed to "Chess Training" or something similar.
2012-12-01	BrockOxon	But that did only lose me 12 of around the 50-60 I dropped in total. Now I need to get my rating to climb back up again (and missing relatively simple puzzles will not help)!

2012-12-01	Zuril	I've discovered a bug in the routine that find new problems that causes the selection of the hanging pieces problems. Problems with hanging pieces should in a short time have a very low rating so they will be selected only for beginners players.

2012-11-30	Zuril	I'm surprised about so many captures of hanging pieces because I take games from the week in chess that are from the major world chess tournaments!
