Thanks for the great selection of easy chess problems. There's some difficult ones here too. Great balance. Chess blindness, and the 'doh' factor |

2014-06-30 | Zuril | Disabled. Thanks Datr!

Zuril: m45627 As stated previously there is no Mate in 3, the Solution is flawed and should be deleted. Black should play 2. ...Nd7 not Nh7. This stops Mate in 3. Also 1. h4 is Correct and is classed as Wrong |
|
2014-06-14 | Garykevinware | Again, comments on the problems belong at the problems, not on the Wall.

61542 1) ....Bxf5 2) Px f5 Nd4 also wins a piece as does the given solution |
|
2014-06-14 | Mnostrant | 110035 pxp wins
2014-06-11 | Datr | There may be more than one way to mate, however, a mate problem isn't classed as Wrong unless a move is made that is Wrong, ie a mate in the specified moves can no longer be achieved. If your move leads to a made in the specified number of moves it won't be classed as Wrong unless there is a fault in the problem. This rarely occurs but does occur on occasion, you should report a problem you think has at fault so that it can be checked and deleted if found to be flawed.
2014-06-11 | Justinyemen | Mates often have more then one way to get to mate in the assigned number of turns. It should be updated so that it only rates it as correct or incorrect after the number of allowed moves has been used.
2014-06-08 | SicilianImplants | Yes, I see it now! Thank you. I guess it serves well for revising one's erroneous problems. I wonder if it would be possible to implement the retry button immediately after failing a problem. Still, great that it is there for searchable problems. Cheers.
2014-06-08 | Garykevinware | Do you see it if you go to a problem, not from solving it, but from the Comments page?
2014-06-08 | SicilianImplants | Gary, I'm not getting the 'retry' button after a failed problem. This might be due to a technical issue. I'm running up-to-date Chrome browser, if that helps.
2014-06-08 | Garykevinware | At the bottom right hand of the board, once you get to the Solution.
2014-06-07 | Datr | Had been, has been? Has been implies it is still there. Where is it?
2014-06-07 | Garykevinware | I don't know, but it has been there for quite a while.
2014-06-07 | Datr | Was that before the new board was introduced? I seem to remember some features were lost at that time.
2014-06-07 | Garykevinware | Wait a second, there has already been a Retry button on the problems.
2014-06-07 | Datr |
If you go into User, Stats, Latest Problems, it lists all the latest problems. Press View and the problem appears and you can Retry the problem as many times as you like. Retry on the Problem page would be better, but the above isn't difficult ans does the job. |
|
2014-06-07 | SicilianImplants | Exactly, I don't think it would be superfluous at all. Seeing the moves played out is great, but it doesn't give a user the chance to attempt to recalculate lines, and in so doing, exercise that tactical muscle. This is why I think a 'retry' button would/could be useful.
2014-06-05 | Datr | Seeing a replay of the solution isn't the same as actually playing the moves yourself.
2014-06-05 | Garykevinware | Since after an attempt, right or wrong, you can see the solution, and play over it, a retry button would be superfluous.
2014-06-05 | SicilianImplants | The User, Stats, Last Wrong Problems is new to me. Good to know, thanks, although much better if there was a retry button per incorrect puzzle, as in other tactics sites. Maybe one day they will implement the ideas we mentioned so it's easier. Appreciate your fast reply.
2014-06-05 | Datr | In User, Stats, Last Wrong Problems is a list of problems that you got Wrong and that will replay. They aren't tagged in any way. I thought of this idea. I also thought that it would be good if after a Correct attempt the problem was removed from the list. In this way one could eventually get all the problems Correct, as you say it would help inprinting the patterns. This idea was rejected because it was too difficult to implement. I still think it would make the site more beneficial to users.
2014-06-05 | SicilianImplants | Feature request: ''tagging'', whereby a user can tag the type of tactical motif; and a ''retry'' button for if/when a user gets a problem wrong, they can have another go - which I think better imprints the tactical pattern (the retry attempt wouldn't be rated of course)

2014-05-31 | Datr | I am running Internet Explorer 11.
2014-05-31 | Datr | It may be worth checking your browser to see if it is the latest version, other players have reported this problem and a browser update seems to have solved the problem.
2014-05-30 | Abies | maybe it's a problem of my pc
2014-05-30 | Abies | when something goes wrong the restart gives me the same problem. They are forced to move to the next exercise all the time.
