Zuril: What goals or what will you add to ideachess.com this year? You probably have the most problems than any other website. Don't give yourself a heart attack. However, I would like for you to please your chess players for the year 2015. N4PLL |

Zuril, I tried the tactics trainers on some of the more mainstream websites that make you pay for the service, and just wanted to say "thanks" for making this site here. The concept is very solid and the ELO system for problems is a great idea, making it constantly fun and challenging, and best of all instructive. Kudos mate. P.S. Also I think the fact that the problems are generally derived from real games is a huge plus, since you're likely to see similar positions in your own games at some point |

Zuril: I believe Israel is correct; there are 2 different (mate in 3's) checkmates on mate number 79769. Please delete 79769 mate number. N4PLL |

Welcome Pancake 123. It says next to each problem "It’s important that after attempting the problem you express your quality rating by assigning a vote from 1 to 5 stars." What it doesn't say is , you must achieve a rating of at least 1600 before you can rate problems. 1 star = horrible problem 5 star = excellent problem The 5 star problems are listed in the Rankings menu so players can look at problems other players liked. |

Mabor, you are correct: I was wrong to say " If a problem has the same ELO as you and you solve it you get no points " this is incorrect. If the problem has the same ELO you will get X points which depends on your RD and the problems RD. If you solve a problem below your ELO you get less than X points, say Y. If you solve a problem higher than your ELO you get more than X points, say Z. There is symmetry in the point change., so if you solve a problem 100 points higher than you ELO and you get Y points. You will lose Y points if you fail a problem that is 100 points below your ELO. etc |
